Do you enjoy working on software that actually controls something in the real world? As a Software Engineer at VTS Intralogistics, you work on the control of machines, processes and technical installations across a wide range of projects.
At VTS, different technical disciplines work closely together. From software and electrical engineering to hardware, machine building, panel building and commissioning. That means you don’t just look at your own piece of the technology, but at the installation as a whole.
Our projects range from industrial automation and machine building to water, energy and intralogistics. That brings plenty of variety, and it also gives you room to shape your role in a way that suits you. Want to focus mainly on software and control engineering? Great. Would you rather be involved more broadly in engineering, FATs, commissioning, customer contact or take on more technical responsibility within a project? That’s possible too.
What will you be doing?
Your work will include:
- Designing and programming PLC software
- Developing HMI and SCADA solutions
- Specifying control systems and setting up software architectures
- Working with industrial communication, I/O, motion control, servo motors and drives
- Preparing and carrying out FAT, SAT and commissioning
- Analysing faults, improving existing control systems and maintaining technical documentation
You work closely with hardware, electrical and mechanical engineers, and you think along with customers and colleagues about the best technical solution.
What does your working week look like?
One day you’re working on the software for a new installation, the next you’re running a FAT or on site at a customer for commissioning.
At VTS, software never stands on its own. What you program ultimately has to make a machine, process or complete installation work properly. That’s why we think it’s important that you look beyond your own code.
You can read technical drawings, understand how an installation is built and know what to expect during commissioning. Something not working as expected? Then you want to know why. Whether the cause lies in the software, hardware, communication or electrical engineering: you enjoy analysing the problem and solving it.
What we offer
- 25 days of holiday and 13 ATV days (reduced working hours) based on 40 hours
- Plenty of variety in projects, technologies and applications
- Room to work independently and take responsibility
- The opportunity to partly shape your role around your own technical interests
- Training and opportunities to keep developing yourself
- An informal, close-knit working environment with short lines of communication
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a solid technical foundation and a practical, solution-oriented way of working.
You also have:
- A completed bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics or similar
- 5-10 years of experience in industrial automation, machine building or control engineering
- Experience with PLC programming and HMI/SCADA
- Knowledge of electrical engineering, industrial installations and machine control systems
- Experience with FAT, SAT, commissioning and troubleshooting
- Good communication skills and a willingness to travel to customers occasionally
Working at VTS
You’ll join a team of around 12 engineers. Lines are short, colleagues help each other and knowledge and experience are actively shared.
Because different technical disciplines come together within VTS, it’s easy to get involved in projects more broadly. From the initial engineering to testing and final commissioning. How far you want to take that depends largely on where your interests and ambitions lie.
And of course, alongside the work there’s also time for a barbecue, a drink and other team activities.
