Micro-fulfilment

Automation on a smaller scale

Not every logistics operation takes place in a large distribution centre. Micro-fulfilment is about companies that want to automate their logistics on a smaller scale, often with less space available.

The challenge is to align technology, capacity and the available square metres.

Where the pressure lies

Automating when
space is limited

You want to automate steps in your logistics process, but space is limited. That calls for a solution that fits precisely, not the biggest one.

Limited space The available floor space is limited, yet you still want to automate process steps.
Every square metre counts Every square metre has to be used purposefully. There is no room for technology that adds nothing.
Matched to your scale The solution has to match the current size of the operation, without an unnecessarily large or complex system.

What does VTS do?

VTS combines different intralogistics technologies into a system that fits your process and the available space. We don’t look at a single standalone product, but at the complete flow of goods.

Conveying, sorting, storage, robotics, controls and software can be brought together in one solution. And thanks to our in-house engineering, there is room for customisation when the situation calls for it.

Our approach

From process analysis
to commissioning

One partner for the entire project, so hardware, software and controls are aligned from day one.

Process analysis We map your flow of goods and the available space, and identify which steps you want to automate.
Design We configure the system from standard technology, complemented by in-house engineering where customisation is needed.
Software and controls PLC software based on the VTS Intralogistics Standard, a WCS that coordinates the installation, and integrations with your WMS or ERP.
Commissioning We test the system and put it into operation. Because we configure more and reprogram less, it’s faster.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, that is exactly what this solution was designed for. We take limited space and urban environments into account, both in new builds and at existing locations.

Robotics can be used to automate repetitive tasks, such as picking, placing and handling products. Combined with our conveying and sorting systems, this creates an integrated solution that speeds up order processing, reduces errors and makes efficient use of the available space.
